The Start of The Journey

Old Stables Pottery is more than a studio and gallery—it’s a space built with heart, history, and hands.

In the early 1990s, Gary purchased the original stable building and, with the support of friends and family, poured his passion into creating the space it is today. The extension he built—crafted with rammed earth, rustic bricks, and quiet determination—now stands as a testament to that journey. It’s a place that holds you in the calm of the moment, grounded by the beauty of natural materials and the spirit of making.

Located in the Blackwood region, we welcome visitors to experience the warmth of our studio, where the rhythm of craft and creativity fills the air.

Gary is our principal ceramic artist—his skill, knowledge, and devotion to clay are at the heart of what we do. At Old Stables Pottery, we honour the handmade, the thoughtful, and the enduring connection between artist, material, and place.
